The 5 day cleanse was gentle and not at all like I "imagined". I completed Young Living's 5 day Cleanse two weeks ago. The cleanse consists of taking a Digest & Cleanse supplement, a shake made with Balance Meal , and 2 oz. of Ningxia Red three times per day. You can elect to supplement the cleanse with the recommended snacks three times per day. The snacks consist of raw veggies (like broccoli or celery), fresh fruit (like blueberries, apples, or pear), or nuts/nut butter. Even though you are not eating much food you are still consuming 33 grams of protein and 33 grams of fiber per day as well as many other nutrients – so your body receives what it needs throughout the day. NingXia Red is a powerful antioxidant drink (low on the glycemic index; no added sugar or caffeine) which helps sustain your energy as well as build your immunity. The Digest & Cleanse offers support for your colon and intestinal tract and eases gas, bloating, and cramps. The Balance Complete provide your body with protein, fiber and essential nutrients.
My findings: I experienced a mild headache on day 2, so I suggest starting on a day/week when you do not have a lot going on. I experienced waves of hunger every day but for the most part I thought it would be a lot harder! I never had an upset stomach. I did miss eating meals but it was really interesting as well as empowering to take a break from food; I was able to really think about what I eat and why. My eating HABITS have changed - I realize how much I "pick" at food while preparing meals for my family. Another major change is I am no longer "needing" the coffee, ice cream etc.... I actually lost 5 pounds in those 5 days but once I started eating meals again 2 came back on – which was not a surprise to me at all. (I do not really need to lose weight. My friend lost and kept off 8 lbs!!) During the cleanse I only exercised once which was enough for my body to handle. For those looking to lose weight, after the cleanse, continue to drink the balance complete 2x a day and have a reasonable dinner. Your body will get what it needs while restricting calories.
I am really happy with the 5 Day Nutritive Cleanse. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to jump start weight loss, change some bad eating habits, or for anyone who is "ready" to try a cleanse. I will do this cleanse again in 4 months. **I think this would be a great cleanse to do before the holidays to help me stay on track with the kinds of food I want to be eating. It really does make you "think" about what you eat and your cravings for junk food fade.
