LEMON OIL TO THE RESCUE!! (again) for GERD

Acid Reflux

Essential oils can be used as an alternative treatment for a variety of problems. As we get older (over 35 in fact) there is a decrease in stomach acid production and this can be helped along by stress. This allows ‘bad bacteria’ in the stomach to grow and they in turn produce gas and acid that leads to the discomfort and the ‘sound affects’ associated with reflux. Natural remedies for acid reflux target this by increasing the amount of ‘good bacteria’.
Instead of looking for natural remedies for acid reflux most people turn to the traditional acid-blocking drugs such as Tagamet, Zantac and Prilosec. While these drugs may work quickly on the symptoms, the problem is that they reduce your ability to digest food, make you more susceptible to diseases transmitted through food and increase your risk of food poisoning.

Natural Remedies for Acid Reflux
Prevention includes eating smaller meals, reducing your take of carbohydrates, eliminate fried foods, increase the amount of protein you eat and drink more water – at least eight to ten glasses per day (more if you sweat a lot).
Natural remedies for acid reflux include the following supplements:
·        A high quality probiotic (LIFE 5 from young living) to increase the ‘good bacteria in the stomach’.
·         Digestive enzymes– before each meal – to improve digestion.
·        Other natural remedies for acid reflux include the herbs peppermint, chamomile, spearmint, lemon, marjoram and clove. Essential oils may be applied by massage and peppermint or chamomile tea is very effective – particularly in place of caffeine.
·        Lemon is a fast and easy acid reflux remedy. You can squeeze half a lemon in 8oz. of water and sip it slowly in the morning before breakfast. Or use lemon essential oil for even greater benefits. ("When a guest at my house asks me for an antacid drink or tablet, I make them drink a 8 ounce glass of water with one drop of lemon essential oil in it instead.”) By ingesting lemon juice or essential oil the stomach temporarily reduces the excretion of digestive acids, therefore alleviating heartburn. A very simple acid reflux remedy. Lemon essential oil has antibacterial properties, which may be effective against H.pylori bacteria in the stomach and further down the digestive tract (diarrhea). If you are interested in the alkalinity or acidity of foods you'll be amazed to know that fresh lemons are actually an alkaline food showing up at 9.9 PH on the Ash scale.

GERD is no longer a problem in our family Just to mention briefly that our whole family, especially our son who is now in his 20s, suffers from GERD. This is a condition in which the stomach contents leak backwards from the stomach into the esophagus. My son was born with it and was on Reglan syrup the first months of his life. We started using Lemon oil and it has made a BIG difference for all of us. We now use it as a preventive by drinking a glass of water in the morning with a couple of lemon drops of oil and we don't have GERD anymore. If we forget to do this and get GERD in the daytime, we just rub some on our chest and it is taken care of completely!

Deep Relief for Bug Bites

BUZZ OFF
It seems the mosquitoes are out and feasting on me and my family!!!  Deep Relief Essential Oil blend works amazingly well at stopping the itch as well as decreasing the inflammation associated with bug bites.  My kids come and ask me for it all the time.  Deep relief is absolutely amazing for neck pain and tension. It is soooo good! It comes in a roll-on which easily slips into a pocket or purse and can be used any time of the day.
It also may help ease tension headaches, as well as decrease joint and muscle pain.  Anyone who tries it LOVES it!!!   (A client called me and requested 2  Deep Relief oils. I asked her why because she just purchased one the week before. Here is her story: "My furnace was being serviced and I noticed the technician was rubbing his neck. I asked him if he wanted to try something to help with pain, he said, "Sure why not!". The next day he called and wanted 2 Deep Relief roll-ons; one for him and on for his 90yr old Mother." )

Check out the amazing ingredients in this blend.

LEMON OIL TO THE RESCUE!! This picture is worth a thousand words!

The pictures above are a before and after of my husband's arm.
He was patching a roof  and ended up with some tar on his arm.
It would not come off so he was off to the store to find
some type of solvent or chemical to remove it. I asked him if
I could try removing it with lemon oil, and being a good
sport he said, "o.k. but I do not think it will work."
I used 5-6 drops of Young Living's lemon essential oil
using a paper napkin-it wiped it off in seconds!!

~Some other uses for Lemon Oil~
  • A few drops removes most sticky residues- things like tar, stickers,  adhesives, sap and pine pitch. (" I cut down my Christmas tree and in the process my hands got covered with pine pitch. It would not come off.. Being new to oils I thought I would try lemon and 3 drops later my hands were clean!")
  • Removes permanent marker, and crayon.  Use to remove paint from hands.
  • Add 10-15 drops of lemon oil into a small spray bottle, fill with water and use to disinfect counter tops while leaving your kitchen smelling fresh and clean. This spray also can be used to clean fruit. ("I have a new dishwasher and it smells. I add 1-2 drops of lemon oil in with my soap and the smell has gone away. Lemon kills bacteria so I know my dishes are germ free.")
  • Add lemon oil to your drinking water; it tastes great and enhances immunity by providing a high level of antioxidants as well as vitamin C. 2-3 drops a day is all you need.  ("I felt like I was coming down with a cold. I drank lemon oil in my water, used a few drops of oil in my tea, and rubbed it over my throat and neck. The next day I woke up and I felt better! Lemon beat my cold.")
  • Lemon oil and all the citrus oils contain D-limonene; a compound that has been studies for its ability to prevent tumor growth in over 50 clinical studies. (My daughter adds 1-2 drops of a citrus oil to her aluminum water bottle that she takes with her to school. She loves the taste! I feel good knowing she is getting an healthy alternative vs. an artificially flavored drink that offers no health benefits.)
  • Lemon is uplifting and refreshing and helps improve concentration.
